Overview
Physical science is a branch of natural science that studies the inorganic, or non-living world. BASS student-athletes will be introduced to ideas and laws found within physics, chemistry, earth science, and astronomy. Scientific theories and fundamentals are explored to help explain our world with the focus on matter and energy. Where Life Science focuses on living organisms and their interactions, physical science examines and studies the world through a different lens.
Course Details
This is a one-year course where BASS student-athletes will learn about the big ideas within physical science and understand why the scientific processes evolve over time to align with the most current scientific evidence and theories. The scientific method is at the heart of this course as student-athletes will be responsible for identifying the processes in our world. They will also draw scientific conclusions about the interactions in energy and matter. Hands-on learning and lab based lessons will assist student-athletes in establishing deeper understanding and provide real life application of physical science theories and laws.
Subjects Covered
Student-athletes will learn a range of topics during the Physical Science course. All content aligns with NGSS Science Standards.
Here is a breakdown of some of the concepts within this course:
- – Scientific Method and Observation
